Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that features a number of amenities on top of the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
